"Good sense is rare in this world and hardly very welcome..."
...is what I was thinking today, and it suddenly sillily struck me as very Jane Austen-esque.
I post it here only because I don't want to forget it in case it inspires its own novel in me one day. :)
I really enjoy Jane Austen's way of putting things--timeless, human, thoughtful & truthful observations.
“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.”
― Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
.....except, of course, jumping off a cliff......
“My idea of good company...is the company of clever, well-informed people, who have a great deal of conversation; that is what I call good company.'
'You are mistaken,' said he gently, 'that is not good company, that is the best.”
― Jane Austen, Persuasion
“There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.”
― Jane Austen
“Indeed, I am very sorry to be right in this instance. I would much rather have been merry than wise.”
― Jane Austen, Emma
“We have all a better guide in ourselves, if we would attend to it, than any other person can be.”
― Jane Austen, Mansfield Park
“She had been forced into prudence in her youth, she learned romance as she grew older: the natural sequel of an unnatural beginning.”
― Jane Austen, Persuasion
“I wish, as well as everybody else, to be perfectly happy; but, like everybody else, it must be in my own way.”
― Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility
“Time will explain.”
― Jane Austen, Persuasion
“Nothing ever fatigues me, but doing what I do not like.”
― Jane Austen
Just makes me want to go read some Jane Austen.... ~tiffany
