I finally did it! I actually ran a race, instead of just "wanting to". It has always been a goal to run a 5k, but for various reasons I have never actually done it (only one of which is that I don't actually enjoy running). Well, I am here to say, that is no longer the case: I ran in the Boise Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I know, Dr. KaLynne, that means I didn't follow medical instructions (and trust me, I feel it), but I just couldn't let another year pass by wishing.... It is true, what they say--the first step certainly is the hardest. It was a great experience and, while running, I was able to reflect on memories of some wonderful women that have touched my life that are no longer living (though none were lost from breast cancer). I think it is no coincidence that they have the race the day before Mother's Day. In the meantime, I enjoyed getting better acquainted with these three beautiful women.

I knew the Race for the Cure had to be my first race when I was watching a slideshow of Sam Puc's (one of my favorite photographers) a few months ago when she was talking about some of the things she does in her Colorado community, encouraging us to do the same. She had two slideshows that I will never forget: NILMDTS and Komen. I was deeply moved, and though it doesn't seem like I can do very much, I know that out of small things proceedeth that which is great.

Tiffany-
I was there too! I walked though...I got a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to kepp a fast enough pace to run it...but, now I wish that I had run...walking just took way too long!!! I kept looking for you guys to run by. I even had my camera ready to take a photo as you ran by...but I must have missed you trying to maneuver myself through the 10,000 snails in front of me. There is always next year right?
What medical restrictions? Are you o.k.?
P.S I didn't realize my mis- spelling until after I published my comment...so sorry. I do know how to spell KEEP!
Hey...fun to see your blog! And yes I had a fun time too. I didn't know that was your first race, you did great(despite medical conditions)!
Great Mother's Day gift to your mom, it's beautiful!
Way to go Tiff!
